James Rhodes BSc, LLB, Taxation Lawyers, Kitchener, ON

James Rhodes operates a boutique taxation firm in Ontario. James’ firm focuses mainly on representing clients against the CRA, both at the audit and objection levels and litigating issues in Tax Court.  He is also involved in all types of relief sought from the CRA and has developed the methodology to ensure taxpayers’ returns stay statute barred and not opened for reassessment.  He is also creating a tax group designed to ensure class actions against tax scheme promoters are investigated and launched to stop them as soon as possible.

James graduated from the University of Manitoba where he received the award for the highest mark in taxation law. Subsequently, he received a prestigious clerkship with the Tax Court of Canada, where he prepared bench memoranda and legal opinions to assist the Justices of the Court.

Following his clerkship, James was employed at PwC and then KMPG, pursued a Master of Tax from the University of Waterloo, and ultimately accepted a role with the Department of Justice carrying on tax litigation.  James then worked at Miller Thomson in their Waterloo office, and then subsequently left to form his own practice dedicated to resolving all taxation issues big or small at reasonable fees.  James is also the founder of the LinkedIn group ‘Canadian Taxation Professionals’ which has almost 4,700 members who work together to assist one another in navigating and resolving taxation problems.
